We are a dynamic, family-owned business located in Lilydale Victoria, specialising in the a versatile range of underground civil works, including directional drilling, water service connections/disconnections, NBN Upgrades, and drainage works. Our company operates a fleet of customised, modern, directional drills. alongside excavators, vac trucks and transport trucks, servicing water authorities, plumbers, builders and construction across Victoria. Our vision is to expand our business while maintaining our commitment to delivering superior quality with a personalised approach. While we primarily serve private clients, we are actively working to establish a robust framework that will enable us to undertake long-term contractual projects in the near future. Currently, we are seeking an Operations Manager to join our team and play a pivotal role in our growth strategy.
Qualifications & experience
- Proven capacity in a management role to manage resources and provide direction
- Proven capacity to supervise staff in directional drilling, underground civil and construction related activities
- Proven capacity to lead and direct team members to achieve positive outcomes
- Demonstrated high level experience with business management
- Proven successful exposure to operational practice in directional drilling and underground works
- Experience and knowledge in Environmental Protection Act 1994 (advantageous)
- Experience in contract management, specifically in the directional drilling and utility service industry
- Experience in quoting small and large projects. (Job quoting will be completed with company directors assistance)
- Experience within directional drilling (advantageous)
- Experience managing local/state government contracts (advantageous)
Tasks & responsibilities
- Scheduling operators and machinery to current and/or upcoming projects
- Responding to enquiries (phone consults, site visits and job quotations), ensuring communication between client and office staff, is timely, reliable and addressed
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders (employees, clients, contractors, suppliers, service providers and industry reps)
- Day to day scheduling with office and field staff, maintaining efficiency and profitability
- Ensure all necessary resources – plant, equipment, materials and staff are available and suitable for the task
- Prepare and allocate all resources to each job and ensure paperwork and documentation is completed as required
- Managing job site inductions with operators, including scope of works (overview, completion schedule), ensuring safety processes are understood and followed (hazard reports, near misses, injury report forms, toolbox talks) and monitoring job progress/completion
- Report any discrepancies or changes to planned and scheduled works to senior management and/or regulatory persons
- Regular client liaisons, including progress reports and gathering feedback
- Managing all relevant on-site safety procedures and documentation, including Job Safety Analysis, Risk Assessments, Safe Work Method Statements, Inspection and Test Plans, Environment Analysisment contracts (advantageous)
