The Opportunity
Come and discover the opportunity to join our Forrestfield team as an Operations Manager. Reporting to the Processing & Logistics Manager WA, you will lead a small team and work with road and rail partners to deliver exceptional outcomes for our Western Australian customers.
This unique and fast-paced site handles approximately 400,000 tonnes of steel per year. In this key leadership role, that impacts the safety of our people as well as the reliability in the transport of our products, you will lead, motivate and develop our high performing team to meet and exceed our customer needs. You will also focus on continuous improvement initiatives as you drive the efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
What Will You Do?
While leading your team and having a direct impact on the delivery performance of BlueScope Australian Steel Products, this role will see you:
developing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, customers and other key stakeholders
promoting well-being and inclusive behaviours
supporting operational contractor management, cost efficiencies and prompt service with a view to operational efficiency
planning & working through large volume fluctuations due to significant weather events as well as critical project timelines
ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, standard operating procedures (SOPS) and audit requirements
providing coaching and mentoring to direct reports and team members
identifying improvement opportunities and foster a continuous improvement environment

You will be an engaging leader focused on developing your team to deliver creative solutions to complex problems. In addition, you will bring:
previous involvement in an operational, manufacturing or logistics environment
experience in leadership and guidance building collaborative teams and coaching them to achieve manufacturing excellence targets
excellent analytical skills with strong capability to learn new systems and extract value from them
a strong commitment to providing an exceptional customer experience
comprehensive project management background
