Roy Morgan has been undertaking face to face interviewing for over 80 years. We have a dedicated team of over 200 interviewers who undertake some of Australia’s most important social research studies for government and other clients. Our face-to-face research includes data collection for many clients including local, state and federal government agencies and academic institutions. On a daily basis our interviewers are engaging with the community and asking important questions about life in Australia. They are the face of Roy Morgan to the community and as such are critical to our business.
About the Role
The Operations Manager role is ideally suited to an energetic person who enjoys motivating people to do their best. The role is part of the Operations team and offers excellent career progression in field or operations management. As an Operations Manager you will work with other teams such as HR to recruit face to face interviewers and researchers to guide the project specific training. The goal is to ensure our interviewers are well trained, resourced and motivated to undertake their work as professionally and enthusiastically as possible!
Your day-to-day work may include:
Working with HR to recruit and screen a high caliber interviewing team
Developing and delivering general and project specific interviewer training including motivational training on how to engage respondents. Some training is delivered online, however for some projects interstate travel may be required.
Managing the day-to-day interviewer workload to ensure interviewers are where they need to be; have the right equipment; are undertaking the work as per the training and generally making sure the data collection is progressing as per the project requirements
Some administration such as organising travel and accommodation for interviewers as well as ensuring additional materials or equipment is sent to interviewers when needed
Some project specific work like updating or developing instructional field manuals or interviewer briefing documents
Proactively identifying and resoling issues associated with fieldwork and training such as organising backup interviewers when needed
Developing and implementing interviewer retention strategies
The end goal is to ensure we meet the key performance indicators for data collection on each project and the field manager is key to this success.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will have:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate effectively with the research team, HR, and interviewers
Excellent organisational skills and an ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
A commitment to establishing and maintaining stringent quality control procedures
Experience managing a team
Flexibility and willingness to lead and work as part of the team
Experience in market research (preferred but not essential)
