About the role:
- Report to the Head of Innovation.
- Engage with packaging suppliers to drive Innovation and Procurement initiatives.
- Conduct line trails of new Materials and Packaging items to validate performance and report findings.
- Conduct trouble shooting and resolution of Packaging related process issues.
- Identify opportunities for packaging process improvement, and provide technical advice and training to machine operators
- Provide input into Packaging equipment capital projects (CAPEX)
- Responsible for the maintenance of Packaging specification master data.
- Technically drive Packaging material sustainability initiatives and help to achieve National Packaging Targets.
- Administer Birch & Waite’s Australasian Recycling Label (ARL) program.
- Assist preparation of the business’s annual APCO report submissions
- Develop and implement new or modified Packaging related test procedures as required.

About you:
- Degree qualified in Packaging Technology, Materials Science / Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 8 years packaging and filling technology experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Comfortable being the “company expert” on all packaging material (and machine performance issues)
- Ability to lead, manage, drive, and implement change.
- Demonstrated experience with major projects . Developingreports and presentations.
- Understanding of legislative requirements (Incl. OH&S & Environment).
