Flexible with locations from Ballina to Port Macquarie!
The Opportunity
Right now, Transport for NSW is looking for an experienced and qualified Painter to join the paint crew team. Currently the position is based at Ballina, however due to the nature of the role and the extensive travel and working away from home commitments we are flexible with locations across regions from Ballina to Port Macquarie.
The role requires significant travel commitments as it is a site-based role and project based. You will be required to live and work away from home the majority of the time. You will also be required to travel outside of normal work hours including some weekends with early starts on-site.
We are currently working on major project including a Bridge at Wauchope and upcoming projects include bridges at Nymboida, Port Macquarie, Macksville, Gunnedah and Chambigne (Grafton). Other duties include but not limited to:
Painting of surfaces including timber and steel, ensuring the product manufacturers specifications, and RMS standards are met
Inspecting painting work to make sure it meets the required standards
Performing advanced scaffolding work when to ensure painting gets done as efficiently and effectively
Providing guidance and support to other team members
Blast & paint in containment
Blasting lead paints on Steel Bridges
Sandblasting
Airless Painting
Stripe Coating
Knowledge of Jotun paints
Operation of compressors
Air preps
Vacuum System
Establishing Ducting
Assisting with construction of Containment
Please note as a part of this role you will also be required to work at night occasionally and travel away from home and camp away.
About you
The successful candidate will be a trade qualified painter with previous experience in a painting and blasting role, ideally within a similar heavy industrial environment. You will also have the ability to work effectively in a team environment, have good communication skills and have a passion for workplace health & safety. You can demonstrate the following:
Good knowledge and skills in use of plant, equipment & hand tools
Pride in your workmanship
A confident & mature work ethic
Ability to work in a team or as an individual as required
Understanding and respect for WHS requirements
Willingness & ability to carry out all facets of project works
General building skills & awareness
A current driving licence and Construction Industry White Card are both an essential requirement for this role and the successful candidate will be required to undergo security and criminal record check prior to appointment.

The salary for this position is Grade 1-3 ($1,289.60 - $1,354.00 per week) per week plus superannuation plus allowances.
