Job description

About the Role

An exciting opportunity to join BOQ Group (which includes Bank of Queensland, Virgin Money Australia and ME Bank) has arrived! We have embarked on our most exciting project yet – building out our Group Risk team for an uplifted and ambitious future state - and we need talented professionals like you to help get us there.

Along our journey, we are strengthening, simplifying, and digitising, whilst ensuring our foundations are in place. With foundation comes strength, and we are building strong and stable teams to work across our multi-branded business. This includes elevating our risk culture, providing you a large opportunity to contribute to the overarching frameworks and be paramount in supporting our transformation into a digital bank.

We are looking for a Partner of Corporate Insurance Risk to join us on a permanent basis, where you will be able to make a difference with curiosity and optimism by providing primary accountability for delivering strategic guidance and advice to the BOQ Group executive and senior leadership teams on the annual corporate insurance renewal and overall insurance risk for BOQ Group. This will include leading and facilitating the annual corporate renewal process such as the preparation of, or contribution to, consultation material with all levels of BOQ Group and external stakeholders.

Sitting within the Operational Risk and Assurance team, you will further monitor and analyse industry trends and developments. You will achieve this by maintaining a deep understanding of the insurance industry, including brokers, and communicating these industry developments, changes and trends with key stakeholders where appropriate. This role will also require you to provide oversight of open insurance claims and reconciliation of related accounts.

This is a challenging and exciting role with a wide range of opportunities to help you take your career to the next level, where we are committed to helping you learn and grow to become a top-tier professional in risk.

About you

As an experienced risk professional, you’ll join us with exposure to Operational Risk within the banking and financial services landscape, with a specific focus on corporate insurance. You are passionate about all things corporate insurance risk and join us with an enthusiasm to, and experience of, elevating the maturity of a risk culture within a business. You will also have a deep understanding of the corporate insurance industry, related processes and/or risk management, supported by an ability to oversee and manage a corporate insurance practice (including compliance to policies, etc.).

We operate in a highly regulated, fast-paced environment so we are seeking a strategic thinker who can problem-solve in a variety of situations and timeframes. Collaboration and partnership come naturally to you, where you will have solid communication skills on a verbal and written level to articulate technical information and participate in cooperative working relationships across the organisation.

As an outcome-driven professional, you enjoy proactively communicating with the business to understand and reach their vision – and know how to align it with your teams. With your vast experience in corporate insurance risk, you’re the go-to person for the development and implementation of frameworks, standards, processes, systems and guidelines to support the corporate insurance practice.

You’re a natural born people-person with a strong background in leading and influencing operational risk teams who can also work independently and develop an objective view of corporate insurance renewal options, which are not influenced by brokers.

Working for us is energetic and fast-paced, and we need top talent to take us where we want to go. BOQ Group people are easy to spot. They're smart, enthusiastic, full of ideas and passionate about what they do. If this sounds like you and you're looking to join a brand on the forefront of financial services risk, we'd love to have a conversation!
