About the role

We are looking for a full time permanent position to work across Calvary North Adelaide hospital and Central Districts Hospital.
Our Pastoral Care Team provides a ministry of support and comfort to all patients that is responsive to, and respectful of diverse religious beliefs. Pastoral Care Workers at Level 1 provide spiritual care alongside physicians, nurses, therapists and other staff to provide this comprehensive approach to healing and consult with senior staff in pastoral care team for more complex care needs.
Spiritual Care is provided by practitioners to appropriately meet the individual’s spiritual and emotional needs. It may include presence, conversations, ritual, ceremonies, and the sharing of sacred texts and resources. Pastoral Care Workers work alongside medical, nursing, allied health and other staff to provide this comprehensive approach to healing.

Key Responsibilities

Work in accordance with the philosophy, mission, values, policies and procedures of Calvary and actively participate in developing a culture that promotes Calvary’s values of healing, hospitality, stewardship and respect.

Provide compassionate, professionally informed and confidential pastoral care support to patients, families and carers’, addressing their emotional and spiritual needs, respectful of diverse beliefs, culture and values, especially in times of crisis and towards the end of life.

Work consistently with the Code of Ethical Standards for Catholic Health and Aged Care Services in Australia and seek supervision from manager for complex ethical issues in accordance with service guidelines and protocols

Prioritize and respond to routine referrals in accordance with service procedures and guidelines.

Assess, develop and provide care plan in response to identified spiritual needs of patients within routine scope of practice.

What you bring

This level is the entry level for practitioners who meet the requirement to practice as a pastoral care worker including at least one unit of CPE or equivalent qualification

Recent experience in pastoral care or hospital-based Pastoral Care

Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team;

Demonstrated ability to practice within scope of pastoral care role

Demonstrated sound written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
