AddressWe are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Payroll Officer to join our Payroll Section.
As a Assistant Team Leader Payroll Officer you will perform a range of payroll duties, including procedural, operational, and administrative duties.
You’ll process and investigate payroll, leave, superannuation, terminations, conditions of employment issues, and conduct some research and analysis. You will also complete quality assurance on transactions.
You will have the opportunity to take a leadership role working in a collaborative, client-focused, flexible and constructive team environment, with opportunities to learn new payroll functions and develop your professional skills and long-term career progression.
You may also be responsible for coaching and providing training to less experienced team members.
The occupant of this position will assist the Payroll team leader in managing a large team responsible for the provision of quality payroll services to the Department and Portfolio Agencies. The occupant is responsible for the following:
- Interpret and apply legislation and related policies and guidelines relating to terms and conditions of employment.
- Oversee the work of the team with a focus on providing a timely and accurate service to clients.
- Provide supervision and on-the-job training to team members.
- Respond to employee enquiries accurately and in a timely manner.
- Process the more complex payroll transactions including workers compensation.
- Assist with User Acceptance Testing relating to user enhancements and updates.
- To be eligible for employment with the Department of Health and Aged Care applicants must be an Australian citizen at the time an offer of employment is made
- An applicant’s suitability for employment with Health will also be assessed through a variety of pre-employment check processes, such as:
- Satisfactory completion of an Australian Federal Police criminal history check, and where relevant a Working with Children and Vulnerable People Check.
- Completion of a medical declaration and pre-employment medical (where required).
