The Opportunity
Realistically, this position is a vacant permanent role; however, due to some broader restructuring within the business, perm hiring is on pause until a new org chart is finalised. To be clear, this is not a redundancy program at all or a result of poor performance. The business is simply realigning to reflect a change in its core product focus and strategy. As a stand-alone Payroll Manager responsible for 400 staff, the position isn't going anywhere!
The Role
Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, the payroll function is viewed as a critical business partner to the entire organisation; so, the recruitment of their new Payroll Officer is being taken very seriously and we're looking for someone with the 'right stuff'. Along with your Manager, you will take ownership of the payroll function, be the subject matter expert for all things payroll from awards & agreements to systems, processes and best practices.
Essential duties will include:
- Processing of the fortnightly and monthly payroll;
- Updating and maintaining payroll records for all employees;
- Liaising with staff and management on payroll related queries;
- Maintaining annual leave, sick leave and overtime reports etc.;
- Contribute to Payroll reporting and HR Analytics;
- Calculating annual leave and LSL provisions/accruals;
- Interpret the Enterprise Agreement and Modern Awards to ensure strict compliance, and remain current with any changes to legislation; and
- Adopt a strong customer service approach and maintain payroll reputation as a true business partner.
