Job description

We are the Australian Government agency responsible for supporting and investing in sport at all levels. Our role is to increase involvement in sport and enable continued international sporting success through leadership and development of a cohesive and effective sports sector, targeted financial support and the operation of the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS).

Who are we

The AIS is responsible for leading and enabling a united high performance system that supports Australian athletes to achieve podium success.

The Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement (AW&E) Branch leads the system’s development and delivery of services designed to improve an athletes’ ability to effectively navigate the critical transition points throughout and beyond their sporting career.

What we want

Someone to design, deliver and evaluate programs for the high performance system to support athletes’ wellbeing and personal development. The programs, initiatives and support will be designed for current, transitioning and former athletes and be available to athlete families and support networks.

What the applicant needs

  • Tertiary/related qualification in learning and development (training) or education.
  • Experience designing personal and/or professional development programs
  • Experience supporting and promoting individual personal development and management
  • Exposure to and experience in elite sport an advantage.
  • Demonstrated contemporary knowledge of issues impacting athlete personal development and wellbeing.
This position is a maternity leave backfill offered as a FIXED TERM position until September 2023.

Eligibility

To be eligible for employment with the Australian Sports Commission, it is preferred that applicants are Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia.

As part of the Commonwealth Child Safety Framework the ASC is committed to being a Child Safe Organisation and leading the way in Child Safety across the sports sector. This position requires a Working with Vulnerable/Children People check to obtain employment.
