About the role

The Clinical Pharmacy Team Leader: Medical Specialties and Ambulatory Care role has become available in a job share capacity for a fixed term period due to the existing team leader commencing PhD studies. As a clinical pharmacy team leader, you will be responsible for delivery of care, coordination, leadership and provision of oversight to all functions relating to the medical specialties and ambulatory care clinical pharmacy team. This team provides unit based clinical pharmacy services to the following inpatient bed cards: cardiology, neurology, gastroenterology and oncology. Current ambulatory care pharmacist clinics include: cardiac failure, interventional cardiology and atrial fibrillation.

Additionally, you will support senior pharmacy department leaders and managers to enhance team building and excellence within the department and throughout the organisation. You will actively participate in pharmacy education programs including mentoring and supervision of undergraduate students, interns, rotational pharmacists and foundation residents, and provide education to staff from other disciplines.

This role also includes the unique opportunity to undertake a concurrent Advanced Training Residency - Cardiology Pathway in a full time, 2 year formalised training program with the balance of hours at Grade 2 classification. The opportunity for ongoing full time or part time employment is available.

As an advanced training resident (cardiology) at GH-Ballarat, you will receive direct mentorship from Adam Livori, the current chair of the SHPA Cardiology Leadership Committee, for the entirety of the program. You will provide clinical pharmacy services to the inpatient cardiology unit bed card and ambulatory care cardiology clinics on a rostered basis. You will engage in cardiologist led ward rounds, multidisciplinary team meetings, and other clinical leadership meetings including the monthly morbidity and mortality and heart failure advisory group meetings. A breadth rotation in either the Coronary Care Unit, Intensive Care Unit or Emergency Department will complement your training in addition to multiple opportunities to engage with and undertake line management responsibilities for staff in the team.

Professional development is supported through regular in-service education including journal club meetings and support for seminar/conference attendance is available. In addition, professional support is provided through team-based structures and mentoring programs.

Being part of a team that values leadership and excellence in healthcare, you will work in first class facilities that maximise care, compassion, individual choice and quality outcomes for all clients and patients.

Key responsibilities include active contribution to:
Provision of high quality, comprehensive clinical pharmacy services (assessment, intervention, advocacy and consultation)
