The Organisation

The NORTH Foundation works in partnership with their hospitals and research units within the Northern Sydney Local Health District to raise much needed funds so they can continue to provide the best in patient care and drive research to find solutions to real-world health problems impacting the community.

The Role - Philanthropy Officer

Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy and working with the broader philanthropy team, this vital 12-month maternity contract will be responsible for the relationship management of a wide range of stakeholders within partner hospitals and medical research institutions.

You will be a motivated relationship manager, recognising the potential in this opportunity to work with inspiring major donors, through the NORTH Foundation's Grateful Patient Program.

Your role will be to nurture existing relationships, identify new opportunities and build relationships with patients, family, and health professionals across the community.

By communicating with hospitals and research units, you will identify needs for funding and partner these projects and stories with prospective and existing donors. You will be a great communicator over the phone and face to face, with the ability to also develop memorable impact reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the delivery and management of the Grateful Patient Program
  • Deliver training & collaborate with healthcare staff, clinicians, and researchers to promote the Foundation’s philanthropy programs
  • Support the overall philanthropic strategy of the Foundation to achieve targets
  • Build and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and develop strong and sustainable relationships with these individuals
  • Prepare proposals, solicitation letters & cultivation collateral for major gift prospects & donors

Skills & Attributes

  • Demonstrated experience building long-term donor relationships
  • Exceptional communication & negotiation skills with strong influential capabilities & the confidence to deliver training
  • Strong organisational skills, highly detail-oriented, committed to excellence, and a proven ability to establish and realise goals in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to build face-to-face relationships in a healthcare environment
