The importance of this role
The Physiotherapist is responsible for the planning and provision of physiotherapy services to improve and maintain the mobility, independence, and positive wellbeing of the residents. The care that you provide residents will enable them to maintain a level of independence and increase their quality of life.
As part of your daily tasks, you will:
- Provide physiotherapy for residents in consultation with the resident, care staff and relevant health professionals in accordance with physiotherapy programs and the resident care plan.
- Develop and maintain physiotherapy care plans that incorporate assessment findings and details of treatment, in accordance with the systems and processes of the service.
- Manage resource allocation effectively in accordance with service policy and process control plans.
- Participate in case conferences for residents, as requested.
- Ensure physiotherapy equipment is maintained in a safe working order.
- Provide input into the service's overall manual handling program for staff and deliver manual handling training to staff as required; lead by example in terms of manual handling practice.
- Keep up to date with current trends and practices in physiotherapy as it applies to aged care and maintain skills and knowledge base by regular attendance at continuing professional development activities.
About you
You are a practicing Physiotherapist with a passion for equipping and empowering people to live life as independently as possible. Whilst not essential, your experience with elderly will enable you to contextualise your practice and care plans to support the best outcomes for the vulnerable.
To thrive in this role your skills knowledge and experience ideally include:
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Physiotherapist.
- Applied knowledge of AN-ACC and Accreditation requirements, in relation to the provision of Physiotherapy.
- Minimum two years' experience as a Physiotherapist.
- National Police Certificate - or the ability to acquire.
