About the role:
As the Paediatric Physiotherapist, you will provide input to facilitate the child’s sensory and motor development, using your knowledge of child musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and neurological development to ensure individualised safe and compassionate care is provided to achieve tailored outcomes with each patient. As with other Allied Health professionals within the team, the Paediatric Physiotherapist supports the nurses to monitor and address identified issues and where necessary supports referrals to other services. This includes advice and information on baby handling, positioning and strategies to promote motor skill development, balance, gross motor control and coordination of movements, thought play and handling techniques.

About the service:
The Sustaining NSW Families (SNF) program is an evidence based Sustained Health Home Visiting (SHHV) program led by the Child and Family Health Nurse (CFHN) and supported by Allied Health professionals. We are based at Kurri Kurri Community Health, which is only a 25 minute drive from Newcastle. The program supports the transition to parenting in the early newborn period through to toddlerhood. The staff employ a strength based partnership approach to develop a therapeutic relationship with the family.

About you:
You are a motivated and compassionate Physiotherapist with demonstrated clinical knowledge and expertise in Paediatric Physiotherapy. You will use your demonstrated knowledge of the issues related to rural clinical practice in a community setting, along with your extensive clinical experience to provide patient centred care and optimise patient outcomes. Your strong communication skills and ability to adapt your approach to suit different audiences will also be highly beneficial in this role.

To be eligible for employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or hold an appropriate visa that allows you to live and work in Australia. Employment of a temporary visa holder will only be offered in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. Please provide proof of booster vaccination if available.
