Your Role

We are seeking a P&ID Designer to join our Brisbane office to work across a variety of Mining & Metals projects, both locally and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

-Planning and conducting independent work which will require judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of design on a project.
-Preparation of block flow diagrams (BFD), process flow diagrams (PFD) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&ID's) using 2-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) in either SmartPlant P&ID or MicroStation depending on the project and the deliverable including population of data and information relating to the drawings and contents.
-Monitoring and self-checking your own work for compliance to approved design standards to ensure a quality design, reliable/safe plant operation, capable of being constructed and commissioned on a project, including tagging conventions, equipment and item symbology, isolation requirements, and process monitoring and control.
-Supporting the preparation of design and drafting procedures to standardize design effort across deliverables.
-Coordinates or makes visits to jobsites or operating facilities, as required, to verify installations to drawings and resolve problems.
-Reviewing or defining engineering scope changes, as required, for project management.
-Endorses or prepares reports of work progress, as required, for project and discipline use.
-Maintaining up-to-date skills in MicroStation and SmartPlant P&ID to ensures maximum use of the application/s and associated meta-data.
-Establishing and maintaining communication with design and engineering supervisors in charge of related disciplines and with administrative personnel within the group or project.
-Consulting with equipment suppliers, technical specialists and client representatives as directed to provide and receive technical information.
-Fostering a project work environment, supported by leadership on the project/program, which fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.

About you

-Specialized courses in drafting, design and engineering practices, and CAD, or a recognized degree in a job-related engineering or scientific discipline.
-Extensive experience in design and drafting.
-Experience and capability to use SmartPlant P&ID, SmartPlant 3D, and MicroStation will be well regarded, especially in mining and mineral processing applications/projects/plants.
-Basic knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to the discipline’s design responsibilities e.g. of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, graphic arts, 2-D and 3-D CAD, reading of drawings and reproduction methods used by the discipline.
-Knowledge of applicable industry and regulatory standards, design criteria/practices, codes and quality standards relevant to the development of PFDs and P&IDs.
-Knowledge of discipline Design Guides used in the development of PFD and P&ID drawings and experience in working with engineers and designers from process, mechanical, piping, instrumentation and control system disciplines.
-Knowledge of technical responsibilities of other groups associated with the total design effort.
-Multi-discipline experience is highly regarded.
