The Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) incorporating the Faculty of Pain Medicine, is an internationally recognised specialist medical education institution responsible for the training, examinations, specialist qualification, and continuing professional development of all anaesthetists and pain medicine specialists in Australia and New Zealand.
The College has a proud record of promoting professional standards and patient safety in the areas of anaesthesia, perioperative and pain medicine and is at the forefront of specialist medical education, ensuring it continues to evolve to meet the changing demands of the profession and the patients it serves.
About the team:
The Policy and Communications unit leads the college's advocacy with government and non-government bodies in Australia and New Zealand, with a focus on safety and quality, Indigenous health and global health initiatives. Much of this work involves communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
The Policy Officer will work under the direction of the Senior Policy Advisor and provide essential support to the Safety and Quality Committee and the safety and quality agenda of the college.
About the opportunity:
The Policy Officer, Safety and Quality will be responsible for:
- Providing support to the Safety and Quality Committee
- Undertaking research and analysis of relevant materials for the Committee
- Drafting and finalizing submissions and responses on matters relating to the safety and quality of anesthesia
- Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Providing advice to staff regarding current safety and quality issues, and updating the college website and resources
Keys to your success:
The role will ideally suit a positive, solutions-focused individual. Specifically you will have:
- A degree or relevant qualification in a science, health or medical discipline
- Sound research and coordination experience gained in a professional environment with demonstrated experience supporting committees
- Demonstrated experience in developing policy and providing policy advice in the health field
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills
- Strong team orientation with excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to liaise effectively with different stakeholders
- Intermediate to advanced MS-Office skills
