Portfolio Business Analyst

What's the opportunity?

Qudos Bank has an exciting opportunity for a passionate and talented Portfolio Business Analysis to join the Strategy Implementation and Value Delivery function of the Bank's Enterprise Portfolio Management Office. This role will play a pivotal role in supporting the Bank's Merger activities, as well as applying business analytics and foundation management consulting disciplines to other non-merger initiatives within the Bank's Strategic Portfolio, and ensuring they are delivered in line with the Bank's Low-Risk appetite for executing projects against time, cost, and quality.

What will I be doing?

As a Portfolio Business Analyst at Qudos Bank, you will:

  • Lead groups of people through unfamiliar activities to achieve desired outcomes within assigned timeframes and boundaries.
  • Operate within defined parameters and adhere to the Bank's Portfolio Management Framework. Responsibilities include business case development, gathering business requirements, facilitating solution design efforts processes and documentation of their outputs, and leading groups of stakeholders through change and transformation.
  • Concurrently assist multiple initiatives across the Bank's strategic portfolio to achieve timely project outcomes by applying the right level of analysis, leadership or project management coordination to empower business leaders to get the job done.
  • Be a key player in resolving cross functional issues by leading specialist working groups through problem solving activities and applying appropriate frameworks to shape collective thinking towards optimal outcomes. In addition you will bring the right minds together to identify opportunities for business improvement and design effective solutions for implementation.
  • Compile comprehensive fact bases on given topics or issues with clear sources for all information from relevant and suitably senior stakeholders.
  • Frame strategic and organisational choices for decision makers.
  • Methodically investigate the root cause(s) of identified issues and/or process inefficiencies.
  • Map current and future state processes and operating models, perform gap analyses and facilitate collective review by cross functions teams to identify actions and solutions to transition into the desired future state with consideration for what it takes to make the change stick.
  • Apply effective frameworks to shape the thinking of cross functional teams to solve business problems and resolve project delivery issues in a timely manner.
  • Support the development of project business cases from the appropriate leadership forum ensuring they align with the Bank's business strategy and provides a viable return on investment with realistic expectations of success.
  • Support the proper function of project governance structures to support timely decision making as well as line-of-sight over progress, OKRs and financial performance against agreed KPIs.
  • Assist Business Owners and Sponsors achieve desired Merger and non-Merger outcomes.
  • Assist in the automation of selected processes via the introduction, or enhancement, of ICT solutions where required.
  • Assist with bringing the affected organisational functions on the change journey while being sensitive to their respective ability to handle the pace and volume of change.
  • Assist with strategic planning which may include analysis of industry, financial and competitor data that will drive commercial business decisions.
  • Prepare effective communication artefacts to convey findings and key messages to various audiences.
  • Build trust and credibility by doing what you promise to do and being dependable.
  • Influence others in a positive way, through clear, consistent and impactful communications.
  • Set the example of what it means to be productive and efficient and what can be achieved in a given day.
  • Identify ways to improve the processes that support and add value to the bank.
  • Meet change with agility and flex working hours and methodologies to meet the shifting needs of the business and stakeholder groups.

What you will bring:

  • 3-7 years' accumulated experience in a similar role or capacity.
  • The ability to lead groups of people through unfamiliar activities to achieve desired outcomes within assigned timeframes and boundaries.
  • Resilience and initiative: Proven ability to achieve outcomes and show initiative in unfamiliar situations.
  • Independent yet collaborative: Capable of working independently within set parameters while effectively collaborating with stakeholders.
  • High standards: Track record of delivering high-quality work with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Confidentiality and security: Upholds confidentiality and practices information security protocols.
  • Motivated and positive: Highly motivated, self-driven, with a positive outlook.
  • Leadership: Experience leading small teams and project groups
  • Strong project finance and risk management abilities.
  • Strong technical analytical skills with the ability to interpret and unpack complex information.
  • Experience working on transformation projects
  • Knowledge of the Project Management Body of Knowledge and Agile project delivery methodologies and when to apply each.
  • Knowledge of the Minto Pyramid Principle and how to apply it to project delivery, problem solving and communication.
  • Tertiary qualifications in business administration, commerce, business strategy, finance, accounting, project management, business management or a similar field.
  • Experience working within a merger integration program is desirable.
