Ergon Energy Network has a permanent opportunity for a Power Worker (Trades Assistant) located at Cannonvale and are inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates.
Field Delivery is responsible for the safe delivery of the overhead and underground construction and maintenance program of works, as well as the core functions of customer service response, including customer fault response and disaster management, customer connections, customer relationships and provision of metering services. The core tasks are constructing and maintaining overhead/ underground high and low voltage electrical distribution and sub-transmission systems, street lighting mains and customer service lines.
The role
As a Power Worker (Trades Assistant) you will:
- Be responsible for assisting tradespeople in performing support duties under general supervision including assisting in the construction, maintenance and associated activities on overhead/underground electrical network.
- Provide support as a safety observer and actively identify and implement risk control measures where needed.
- Drive and operate vehicles, plant, tools and equipment, while also maintaining and checking the operation of equipment.
- Monitor and maintain both material and stock levels, ensuring adequate stock is on hand.
- Possess the ability to follow directions and appreciate the physical requirements of carrying out manual work with the willingness to learn.
- Recent experience with C2 crane/borer ticket in the distribution industry would be advantageous.
- Demonstrated knowledge of an electricity distribution/transmission system, including construction and maintenance of the electrical network.
- Working knowledge of Electricity Act & Regulations, Workplace Health & Safety Act and Regulations, and other relevant statutory acts & regulations.
- Well developed interpersonal communication skills to develop good working relationships with team members and external customers. You must have the ability to identify and understand customer needs.
- Available for call out and emergency work.
- Willing to travel to surrounding areas from time to time to undertake work.
- Current ‘C’ class open Drives Licence.
