Reporting directly to the Principal Practice Leader, the Practice Lead works within Specialist Courts and Court Support Services (CSS), which includes a range of initiatives that assist accused persons and others involved within the court system. The role has responsibility for the development and implementation of practice improvement and professional development processes within Court Support Services (CSS) which includes the Court Integrated Services Program (CISP) and the Assessment and Referral Court (ARC). It will ensure that clinical practice within the programs align with current, evidence-based approaches to meeting the needs of people with complex and multiple support needs. It will support integration of clinical practice across other court support programs to ensure effective client referral pathways and improved outcomes.
Participants may be experiencing issues of social or cultural disadvantage, including substance abuse, disability, mental illness, family violence or cognitive impairment. These initiatives include the Court Integrated Services Program (CISP), the Assessment and Referral Court (ARC), CISP Remand and Outreach Project (CROP), the Criminal Justice Diversion Program, the Drug Court of Victoria, Family Violence Programs and Initiatives Unit and the Koori Court.
Job Description
You will provide proactive leadership, mentoring, coaching, and support to the Court Support Services program team, ensuring high quality and consistency in service delivery.
Emphasise continuous improvement by identifying key issues and recommending strategies to ensure that the program is delivered in accordance with clinical best practice, therapeutic jurisprudence principles, and agreed service outcomes.
Ensure the CSS Programs are delivered in a way that is person-centred and responsive to and inclusive of the diverse needs and backgrounds of all clients. Skilfully work with diversity in a way that displays respect and cultural inclusivity.
You will be responsible for working with the CSS Leadership team to contribute to the development and delivery of key priorities within the work-plan relevant to practice leadership.
Establish effective working relationships with the judiciary, legal professionals, and court staff in relation to clients within the court process, providing support and specialist clinical advice in relation to complex client presentations.
The Successful Applicant
A relevant tertiary level qualification within Allied Health or Social Work (Social Work, Mental Health Nursing, Occupational Therapy, or Psychologist) and eligible for relevant professional registrations/memberships (AASW, APS etc.).
Extensive experience in clinical practice leadership and governance within the mental health, family violence, AOD, or Disability Service Sectors.
Demonstrated experience to work effectively in or lead a team and ability to be a positive role model who is professional, supportive, and inclusive.
Committed to providing high-quality services to all people from diverse language and cultural backgrounds.
Strong attention to detail with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a flexible approach.
