About the role
We are seeking a Precedent Developer to support the Knowledge Manager in partnering with legal branches to drive, manage and enhance VGSO's precedent system with a key emphasis on promoting effective use of the system across VGSO (including training and knowledge sharing initiatives across the office). You will be part of a dynamic and collaborative team with an opportunity to build on collective knowledge.
This newly created role will be a part of the Corporate Services branch which provides critical, strategic and operational support services to ensure the continual success of the VGSO. The role will be responsible for further improving the Knowledge Management (KM) Strategy to the Victorian Government and public sector.
The key responsibilities of this role are to:
- Implement precedent changes to ensure all precedents remain up to date, including liaising with external subscription providers.
- Partner with legal branches to identify precedent related needs across VGSO and obtain legal content for the creation and improvement of precedent documents.
- Support the Knowledge Manager in educating and promoting knowledge-sharing capability and practices.
- Communicate with staff in relation to their draft templates and automation requirements, including by making comments and seeking clarifications.
- Adopt best practice approaches, including conducting precedent audits to ensure high standards are maintained.
- Create/maintain procedural material in relation to precedents processes, software etc.
- Drive and promote the precedent development function, including effective communication of precedent updates to relevant parties.
- Administrative tasks as requested by the Knowledge Management Team and across Corporate Services.
- Demonstrated experience in an office based role using solid IT skills including coding, Precedent software and content management systems.
- Previous experience with knowledge of records management practices, archiving and migrating documents is highly regarded.
- Ability to think creatively in solving template automation issues, or designing automation processes.
- Focus on user experience/usability when creating and testing templates.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to take initiative and use problem solving skills.
- Commitment to high quality work and compliance.
- Interpersonal/communication skills for dealing with staff/internal clients.

A salary package plus superannuation will be negotiated with the successful applicant commensurate with skills and experience.
