Key duties:- Proven track record and experience in the preparation of Annual Statutory Financial Statements to ensure completeness & accuracy of information and compliance with statutory requirements
- Experience in preparation of detailed movement schedules and lead schedules
- Good working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and Queensland Treasury Financial Reporting Requirements & other relevant legislation changes. Design and develop new notes to support Annual Financial Statements
- Ability to interpret and review statutory financial requirements & newly issued accounting guidance to provide technical accounting advice to senior management to ensure accounting compliance across the DAF
- Prepare key month end journals & reconciliations in timely accurate manner
- Provide training and information sessions to business groups
- Continuous learning within the team by coaching others
- Assist in preparation of responses to urgent requests for financial information within short timeframes
- This requires working with finance staff within the Department to resolve any issues and maintain strong functional working relationships
- Support the Mng. Financial Accounting in his day-to-day tasks
- Participate in any projects that the Financial Accounting Team are involved in
- Develop and maintain appropriate policies, procedures, guidelines and systems to facilitate & promote sound financial reporting across DAF
- Maintain and develop constructive, collaborative working partnerships, relationships with clients & stakeholders
- Assist in the Development and implementation of strategic approaches and solutions to complex accounting and financial management issues to achieve organisation objectives and
- Foster a professional environment which encourages commitment, ethical behaviour, skills development & continuous improvement
