We have two operating sites with site-based geotechnical engineers that will provide opportunity for you to mentor, develop, influence and guide the next generation of geotechnical professionals. We have two new projects commencing development over the next 2 years. The Federation Project is expected to commence development in 2023, providing an opportunity for the successful candidate to influence and develop the site management plans, standards, processes and systems. The Great Cobar Project will follow, building upon the history of mining at the Peak Gold Mines. In addition, ongoing exploration success within our highly prospective tenements is expected to lead to a regular pipeline of projects requiring completion of scoping, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies.
The Role
We have a new opportunity for an experienced Principal Geotechnical Engineer. This is a key role in our technical services team. Based out of our Brisbane office, you will report to the Group Manager – Technical Services. Properly servicing our sites will see you travelling frequently to the company’s mine sites. You will be responsible for providing both strategic and tactical geotechnical advice and guidance to the mine sites to optimize the recovery of mineral resources. You will also contribute to and drive the reduction of costs and optimizing revenue.
Your background should include expertise in underground mining, ground support, backfill, geotechnical modelling, numerical modelling, and the monitoring of the ground response to mining.
Key Responsibilities
Ensuring and monitoring safety in the workplace by identifying and addressing hazards and participating in improving safety and ensuring all reporting requirements are completed.
Ensuring that mining is undertaken to the standards specified by the Mining Regulators and AMI.
Ensuring that appropriate geotechnical data is collected.
Ensuring sound geotechnical principles are used during planning and mining.
Ensuring appropriate ground support principles and products are used during mining.
Ensuring that appropriate monitoring and back analysis is undertaken.
Providing mentoring and leadership to site based geotechnical engineers.
About You
Minimum 10 years of broad experience in Geotechnical Engineering
Tertiary Qualifications in Geotechnical Engineering.
A track record of working in technically challenging underground metalliferous mines.
A values driven and results orientated professional with strong interpersonal, organisational and influencing ability.
An active team member and leader who has an open communication style, shares information and contributes to an excellent working environment.
Ability to travel as required including spending frequent time at sites.
