About the Role

 

South Flank is looking for a Principal Leadership Capability to support the progress and expansion our Supervisory Leadership Capability Program. Reporting to the Manager Site Improvement, this role will be accountable for delivery of our Supervisory Leadership Development Program which provides on-the-job targeted coaching for frontline Supervisors across the South Flank Site. Utilising a combination of observation, feedback, education and coaching, this role enables customised support to uplift leader capability.

 

This role is a site-based role with weekly FIFO from Perth to Site (South Flank) on a 5:2, 4:3, 9:5 roster.

 

Your key deliverables include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Work alongside frontline Supervisors to observe, coach and upskill in both leadership skills and technical elements;
  • Liaise with senior leaders to share learnings and embed capability improvements;
  • Scope and develop individual development activities for participants throughout the program and post completion to support ongoing improvement;
  • Develop and facilitate education and intervention programs for participants to lift performance and standardise expectations across teams and embed core activities;
  • Support embedment of BOS and other South Flank specific tools (e.g. Driver Dashboard);
  • Identify emerging trends in frontline leadership capability, recommend and implement improvements;
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders and ensure integration across other BHP leadership programs, capability and culture priorities.

About You

Additionally, you will be, or have:

 

  • Experience in people leadership in a dynamic work environment;
  • Leadership coaching skills or have provided coaching through the course of a past role;
  • Strong communication skills and proven ability to engage and build relationships across multiple layers of the organisation from senior management to frontline leaders and technicians;
  • Very good organisational skills with the ability to effectively prioritise tasks and work both independently and as part of a team;
  • Good experience and skills in the use of technology in managing work processes, data capture and performance reporting;
  • Exposure to, or participation in BHP Operating System (BOS) will be highly regarded;
  • Previous front line leadership experience in Mining, Fixed Plant or MEM.

About South Flank

 

BHP’s US$3.6 billion South Flank is a greenfield mine and brownfield processing centre created adjacent to and within the Mining Area C operation. Located approximately 130km north-west of Newman, South Flank together with Mining Area C will become one of the largest iron ore hubs in the world, within reach of several billion tonnes of high-grade ore. South Flank will help to maximise the volume and quality of BHP’s iron ore production, which is essential for the world’s steel.
