As part of Regional and Spatial Planning, the core responsibilities of this role directly inform the preparation and delivery statutory regional plans, other state-significant spatial and growth strategies and implementing City Deals for SEQ and Townsville.

-Lead key aspects of the review, preparation and delivery of statutory regional plans, including the review of ShapingSEQ and Far North Queensland Regional Plan, as part of the Queensland Government's Regional Growth Framework.
-Help manage the overall delivery of land supply and development monitoring functions for the state, providing expert advice, analytical and problem-solving skills to guide growth decisions for regions, including South East Queensland.
-Develop strategic intelligence in the support of growth and development in the regions while remaining cognisant of Government policies including (but not limited to) protecting each region's natural resources, social development and the broader interests of the state.
-Coordinate project plans and multi-disciplinary (planning, data analytics, spatial, land economics etc) teams, including contractors, to deliver high quality outputs and advice under various and regular pressures.
-Provide strategic advice and recommendations to government about the implications of policy changes identified to respond to supply and demand issues.
-Prepare and review detailed technical, as well as strategic, advice about regional planning and provide support to senior management and to internal and external stakeholders.
-Create and maintain effective working relationships with key project stakeholders, including but not limited to other state agencies, local governments, infrastructure agencies, industry peak bodies, technical experts and developers.
-Coordinate and prepare quality correspondence, submissions, presentations, briefs and reports on complex and sensitive issues for the delivery of projects.
-Provide strategic advice and support in relation to linkages between regional plans and economic, social and environmental data and trends and regional plans.
-Provide support and mentorship to junior staff.
The duties detailed above are indicative of the activities and experiences of the role that support your ongoing growth and development within the Department. You may be required to perform a range of tasks that are outside your main list of duties, but are within the limits of your skill, competency and training, or are incidental and peripheral to your main duties.
The roles advertised will be aligned to either; growth management, regional plan policy development, or regional plan implementation. These roles will be part of the leadership team leading the preparation and implementation of statutory regional plans across Queensland. These roles will also be responsible for working with the team to deliver on the departments commitment to update all regional plans 5+ years old over.
