About the Department of Education:

The Strategy and Policy Team of the Early Childhood Division is responsible for providing advice and analysis, developing and implementing initiatives, and evaluating major initiatives to ensure the Queensland Government's early childhood policy objectives are achieved.

Your Role:

This role presents an opportunity to be creative, make a positive impact and build organisational capability. You will be required to lead and influence others, use your ability to think creatively, communicate complex concepts and make informed recommendations to senior and executive management. Responsibilities include:

  • Working on the development of a Queensland Early Childhood Workforce Strategic Plan.
  • Providing analysis, advice and recommendations on policy issues affecting the early childhood sector.
  • Manage evaluations of major programs/initiatives and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Contribute towards or lead projects to improve participation and outcomes for all children, particularly vulnerable and disadvantaged children, First Nation's children, and children with additional needs.
What we're looking for in our Principal Project Officer:
  • A strong background in one or more of the following: policy / program & project development and implementation / evaluation of programs and projects.
  • Flexibility to work across a number of programs and projects.
  • Exceptional writer and communicator, particularly with external stakeholders.
  • Excellent attention to detail and coordination skills.
  • Innovative and collaborative.
