Are you a Psychologist looking for a role with impact? Queensland Corrective Services (QCS) is looking for a Principal Specialist Psychologist to join our Specialised Clinical Services (SCS) unit within our Sentence Management Services Branch. SCS contributes to the Agency’s overarching commitment to community safety through the delivery of specialised assessment, intervention and reporting services for prisoners who are identified as high harm, mental health needs and complex needs.

The Principal Specialist Psychologist is to provide clinical expertise to the assessment, intervention and management of offenders whom pose a serious and imminent risk in either targeted/fixated violence or those whom have been convicted of terrorist offences or are at risk of radicalisation.

In this role you will:

- Provide expert psychological and behavioural advice to QCS executive and operational areas, and relevant stakeholders on issues related to risk and harm for offenders within the cohort (those presenting with targeted violence/fixated threat/terrorism related convictions, those at risk of radicalisation or managed on a Maximum Security Order).
- Provide advanced leadership in the delivery of high-quality clinical services to assist in developing formulation, management and engagement
strategies for offenders within the identified cohort.
- Provision of advanced level knowledge and advice and support to operational staff responsible for the management and rehabilitation of offenders within the cohort.
- Maintain a clinical caseload commensurate with responsibilities and/or provide expert advice on the appropriate management of offenders within the cohort.
- Conduct evidence-based targeted assessment and individualised intervention for offenders within the cohort to facilitate or supplement their
engagement in routine Agency treatment pathways / interventions.
- Develop and provide specialist advice on the management of risk and engagement strategies for cohort offenders within custody or the community.
- Prepare strategic advice and ministerial and executive correspondence ensuring accuracy and timelines are met.
- Provide advanced level judgement and decision making in the management of a complex caseload across multiple settings involving consultation
and liaison to all relevant stakeholders to deliver an effective state-wide service.
- Lead the review and identification of trends and issues relevant to the operational management of offenders within the cohort to enhance the
state-wide service delivery and system responses to the management of offenders within the cohort.
- Provide expert and specialist psychological and behavioural advice to other business units on issues related to forensic risk, intervention and
management related to violent extremism/targeted violence.
- Provide advanced level clinical advice, oversight and practice supervision to a team of practitioners, including Principal Practitioners and Senior
Practitioners, to ensure professional clinical standards within the unit.
- Develop and support inter-disciplinary and inter-agency liaison with key stakeholders across law-enforcement, national security and correctional jurisdictions to ensure best-practice within the management of offenders within the cohort.
- Use a collaborative and consultative approach with relevant stakeholders to contribute to strategic partnerships and monitor and resolve system issues utilising high level interpersonal communication and feedback processes.
