About this opportunity

Our Regional Prosperity and Communications team has an opportunity for an experienced senior events practitioner to lead the attraction of, development, delivery and optimisation of destination events in the Scenic Rim, resulting in economic growth and a heightened profile for the region.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Attract, conceive, develop, promote, deliver and evaluate high quality, tourism-focused regional events and festivals that reflect the strategic direction of Council and the region
  • Administer Council's Regional Events Grants program, including assessment of applications, modelling of anticipated economic return, recommendations for financial support and liaison with interested applicants
  • Act as a touchpoint and Council 'concierge' for event organisers in the region, providing them with support and advice around protocols, processes and requirements. This extends to mentoring and assistance in building event organisers' capability
  • Liaise internally to ensure that tourism outcomes of events are maximised and fully integrated into project plans. Similarly, take responsibility for the development and delivery of marketing plans for all events
  • Liaise with relevant organisations to identify and access available sponsorship, grant funding and support mechanisms and initiatives to make the conduct of events affordable for Council
  • High level project management skills including strong organisational and logistical coordination, high attention to detail, ability to work autonomously, produce results under pressure and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong financial management skills including demonstrated experience in development, monitoring and management of budgets, sponsorship/grant sourcing and management, and experience in contractor management, supplier engagement and other purchasing and procurement processes.
  • Extensive event management operational experience including strong working knowledge and experience in events, including curation, site operation and logistics, production, risk management and compliance, stakeholder engagement and programming.
  • Experience in identifying, targeting, bidding for and attracting events to a region.
  • Ideally, experience in a local government environment.

About you

To succeed in this role, you will require ;

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Event Management or at least 3 years' management experience in the planning and delivery of major indoor and outdoor events and multi-faceted festivals.

Scenic Rim Regional Council is an innovative employer, offering flexible working arrangements and a collaborative team environment. For the right candidate, this position comes with a base remuneration from $120,000 per annum, plus a vehicle allowance valued at $16,000, additional allowances/ relocation allowances, up to 12.5% employer superannuation contribution, a 36.25 hour working week, and much more.
