Qualifications & experience
- We are seeking someone with a friendly nature, who is organised and outcome focused who has a genuine interest in the property development industry.
- A minimum of 8 years professional statutory town planning experience in local government or private consultancy.
- Tertiary Qualification in Statutory Town Planning or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience assessing and preparing statutory applications for assessment and approval by government agencies.
- Demonstrated experience in managing a small team.
- A keen understanding of budgeting and fiscal responsibility.
- Well developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated stake holder engagement, conflict resolution and negotiation skills with government agencies on behalf of clients.
- Confidence in their understanding of the Victorian Planning System and demonstrated knowledge of the Victorian Statutory planning process.
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Direct management of complex statutory town planning applications including advising clients of the requirements, preparing applications for lodgement, responding to RFI's or statutory referrals.
- Indirect management of less complex statutory town planning applications and mentoring of associates.
- Management of a team of up to 4 associates to ensure company wide standards are maintained and customer fulfilment duties professionally delivered.
- Peer reviewing of the accuracy of statutory town planning advice prepared by associates.
- Working as part of a consultancy team in preparing town planning applications and engaging with architects, traffic engineers and other consultants as required.
- Preparing professional advice for clients advising them of town planning requirements.
- Facilitating complex negotiations between clients and stakeholders that have conflicting objectives.
- Identifying and executing effective strategies for successful VCAT cases including appointment of expert witness and collaboration with legal counsel where required.
- Reviewing potential town planning appeals and advising clients on the strength of their case.
