We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Production Engineer to join our dynamic mining operations team at our Paraburdoo Operation in the Pilbara, Western Australia. With cutting edge technology at your fingertips and support of the brightest minds in the industry you will develop, lead and manage productivity and cost improvement initiatives for the site, while driving the implementation of the mine plan.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to further your knowledge of all functions within the operations space and gain exposure to the mine operations leadership team. Reporting to the Senior Production Engineer, you will:

· Lead business improvement projects for the mine operations team with a specific focus on safety, productivity and asset utilisation

· Maintain departmental reporting tools and metrics

· Engage with key internal partners across mine production, mining technical services, dewatering, fixed plant and mobile equipment maintenance to deliver optimal business outcomes

· Utilise accurate data analysis to drive cost reductions and efficiencies

· Promote a culture of safety and respect, and provide input into critical risk management and incident investigation processes

· Coordinate and support productivity initiatives within the mine operations team and establishing best practice

· Provide coaching, mentoring and technical support to the mine planning engineers and operations teams to ensure optimisation of the mine plan

· Ability to analyse and identify opportunities within the business to maximise value by working alongside mine operational and maintenance teams

The position will offer the successful candidate the flexibility of FIFO ex Perth (8 days on, 6 days off) or the truly unique opportunity to live in Paraburdoo, a mining community township with a population of around 2,000. Located on the doorstep of the beautiful Karijini National Park, known for its specular gorges and scenery. Facilities within the township include a hospital, primary school, and a variety of sporting facilities including an Olympic sized swimming pool.

What you'll bring

You will have tertiary qualifications in mining engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience in mine operational and/or planning roles within a large open pit mining environment. You will be someone who thrives on a challenge, can think outside of the box and have a good understanding of the fundamental concepts that underpin value in the mining industry. Your exceptional relationship building skills coupled with your ability to engage and collaborate effectively with a diverse range of business partners will also ensure your success in this role.

You will have a full and valid Australian manual 'C' class driver's licence, a high level of computer literacy and proficiency in the use of Vulcan, Excel, Power Query, Power Bi or other data visualisation software.

Your demonstrated experience in a Mine production role and/or Operations centre will be highly regarded.

Where you will be working

Rio Tinto's Paraburdoo Operation commenced iron ore production in 1972 and has the capacity to produce 25 million tonnes (MT) per annum. The geographic spread of the Paraburdoo Operation consists of Channar and Eastern Ridge feeding the ore into our main hub processing plant. With the Western Ridge green field project kick starting, the life of the Paraburdoo Operation will be extended to 2045.
