About the Role
Teys Australia has a full-time opportunity for a highly organised Production Manager with demonstrated supervisory experience to join our driven Operations team based at our Biloela processing site in Central Queensland situated 120km inland from Gladstone. The role will be responsible for the management and coordination of production scheduling so that orders are filled to specification whilst ensuring packing produces the most efficient and profitable return.

Working closely with the Group Production Manager you will bring your knowledge of production specs, codes, yields, and other incidentals to ensure they are complementary and consistent to the Group’s benefit.

Overall role requirements include:

  • Ensuring orders are filled to spec.
  • Monitoring of boning room and slaughter floor output to ensure scheduling requirements are met.
  • Formulation, implementation, and monitoring of systems to track production yields as well as recommend initiatives to improve yields.
  • Formulation, implementation, and monitoring of systems to identify wastage and recommend initiatives to reduce it.
  • Maintaining productive relationships with suppliers and recommending to them plant management initiatives for improved performance.
  • Ensuring recording systems are accurate and up to date.
  • Creating a general awareness amongst employees of the need to follow environmental policies and procedures for the purposes of any relevant environmental objectives and targets. 
  • Implement and monitor control procedures for routine operations to prevent or minimise environmental harm. 
  • Reduce water usage wherever practical and possible.
  • Assist with the implementation of the Safety Management System ensuring all employees comply with the Teys detailed Safety Management and the relevant legislation.
  • Ensuring all staff and employees are trained on their obligations under various legislation and skills relevant to their areas of control.
  • Provision of an effective communication and consultation process within the workplace for employees to raise and discuss areas of concern.
  • Maintain an awareness of local Workplace Health Safety and Welfare, Worker's Compensation, and Rehabilitation policies and procedures.

About You 
It is essential that you have the following experience/skills:

  • Advanced level computer literacy
  • Sound working knowledge of production descriptions used in the export meat industry
  • High organisational skills.

Desirable: 

  • Demonstrated experience in a supervisory capacity in an export boning room and/or meat trading environment.
