Job Summary: The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the meatworks facility, ensuring that production targets are met efficiently and safely. This role involves supervising a team of workers, maintaining quality control standards, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision and Leadership:
- Oversee and manage production staff, providing direction, guidance, and support.
- Ensure team members are trained and competent in their roles.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to staff.
Production Management:
- Plan, organize, and supervise production operations to meet daily and weekly production targets.
- Monitor production processes and make adjustments as necessary to maintain efficiency.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth workflow and resolve any issues that arise.
Quality Control:
- Ensure all products meet quality standards and specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of production processes and finished products.
- Implement corrective actions to address any quality issues.
Health and Safety:
- Enforce health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions for staff.
- Investigate and report any accidents or incidents, implementing corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
Inventory and Materials Management:
- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and finished products.
- Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely availability of necessary materials.
- Minimize waste and manage resources efficiently.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of production activities, including production volumes, quality control data, and safety incidents.
- Prepare and submit regular reports to the Operations Manager.
- Use production data to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve production processes and implement best practices.
- Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement among production staff.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Production Supervisor or similar role, preferably in a meatworks or food processing facility.
- Strong knowledge of production management, quality control, and health and safety regulations.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using production management software and tools.
Working Conditions:
- The role may involve working in a cold and wet environment typical of meat processing facilities.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends as required.
To be successful, you must meet the following requirements:
- Australian Citizen/Permanent Residency/Full Working Rights in Australia are essential
- Complete a pre-employment medical check, including a drug and alcohol test
- Q-Fever vaccinated (or willing to get)
- Be able to provide two professional references.
- Be able to work in the cold environment
