How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne…
The Waste and Recycling Branch manages the strategic direction and delivery of waste and recycling essential services within the municipality through the provision of contracted services, program delivery and policy development. The Circular Economy Team within the Waste and Recycling Branch is responsible for the development and delivery of programs related to the City of Melbourne’s’ Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy and most critically, is responsible for driving Circular Economy practices across the organisation and the municipality.
The Program Lead Zero Waste City will lead the reduction of waste to landfill and contamination across the various waste streams using data and developing programs that influence, educate and implement positive behavioural change. This position plays a key role in implementing circular economy programs while reducing waste to landfill and increasing city amenity across the Waste and Recycling Branch.
What you will bring… (Selection criteria)
- Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values – accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence.
- Proven ability to problem solve and make evidence-based decisions, using research, data management analysis and insights to support strategies.
- High level project management skills and proven ability to concurrently project manage a number of different work streams on time and on budget.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to drive initiatives to ensure the required outcome is achieved.
- Ability to confidently liaise internally to build relationships, achieve cooperation, work inclusively, gain and share knowledge and experience and, discuss and resolve issues.
- A proactive attitude and approach to problem solving including demonstrated experience and knowledge in continuous improvement and change management methodologies.
- A relevant tertiary qualification or extensive experience to an equivalent level.
- Experience in data analysis, communications, education and behavioural change programs.
