About the Role:
As the Project Accountant you will sit in the business partnering with project staff to deliver specialised financial advice, support and oversight to complex multi million dollar project(s). You will be an integral part of an existing collaborative and supportive team and will also work closely with the WIO Governance team and Corporate Finance in the joint delivery of a suite of finance functions that aligns to both DEW and external funding partner requirements. A key component of this role is the ability to successfully develop strong networks and relationships that results in a partnered approach to achieving mutually beneficial outcomes. To be successful in the role, you will have significant experience and well developed finance skills in government, proved ability to establish strong key relationships and be a highly collaborative team player who is solutions focused.
What can a day in the role can look like…..
Extend your management accounting skills beyond the ‘norm’ and partner with business based staff in the joint development and oversight of multi million dollar (capital and operating) project budgets
Rigorous analysis, reconciliation and reporting to ensure alignment of project workplan budgets with branch budgets
System maintenance including journals, budget adjustments etc
Identifying risks and/or opportunities and referring accordingly, including advice/recommendations
Contributing to project progress reporting for external funding partners
Contributing to the development and oversight of project/program funding agreements and variations.
Successful candidates will be placed in a pool for a period of 12 months and may be considered for term employment as they arise within the team.

Remuneration:
ASO6 $95,588 - $101,109 max p.a.,

Applicants are to submit a pre-employment declaration, their application which must include their current CV and a written statement (no more than 3 pages) demonstrating their relevant experience to the following:
Demonstrated public sector experience in the provision of all aspects of finance including analysis, reconciliation, reporting, budget development, CAPWIP, forecasting, carryovers, program performance etc.
Demonstrated experience in building positive relationships and partnering with key stakeholders for the joint delivery of outcomes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to tailor communication to varying audiences including many stakeholders with no financial background.
Provision of advice, support and reporting to senior staff and governance committees that supports a strategic approach to financial decision making, budgeting and funding strategies.
Previous experience supporting large, complex, multi-million dollar project (capital and operating) budgets.
An appropriate degree in business, accounting, finance or economics majoring in accounting, or related degree.
