Context:
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM), and direct supervision of the Senior Programme Assistant, the successful candidate will assist with the Community Support Programme (CSP)’s operational activities.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Respond to general Programme enquiries including outlining the CSP parameters and eligibility criteria, explaining the process, and referring to / providing additional information resources as appropriate.
- Request, collate, and review information received from supporters, applicants, and employers in accordance with established processes for each stage of case management, update and maintain complete records for each CSP case.
- Contribute to the evaluation of applications in alignment with Programme eligibility criteria, identifying gaps or inconsistencies in information, and opportunities to address weaknesses.
- Provide support in drafting correspondence and/or communicating directly with Australian supporters, applicants and/or employers with respect to case management - including case status updates, relevant changes to the programme, and additional information requirements.
- Contribute to the development, drafting, and review of case integration plans for inclusion in visa applications, in coordination with the project team.
- Conduct monitoring interviews and complete surveys capturing the settlement outcomes of migrants who arrive in Australia through CSP.
- Prepare information material to assist the migrants in their settlement in Australia and liaise with Humanitarian Settlement Program (HSP) providers
- Liaise with other IOM missions, community organizations, and service providers.
- Contribute to the planning of outreach activities including assessing outreach locations in alignment with Programme objectives; exploring opportunities for partnership with community organizations and employer groups.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
- University degree in Political or Social Sciences, Business Administration, Refugee and Migration Studies, International Relations, Law or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or
- Completed High School degree from an accredited academic institution, with one year of relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Experience in working with migrants, civil society and government is an asset
- Prior experience working for IOM, a UN agency, or another international organization is an advantage.
Skills
- Knowledge of migration-related issues
- Proven ability to work with vulnerable individuals
- Excellent written and oral communication skill
