About the team
The role sits within the Sydways team in the Central and Southern Sydney Project Office. The Central and Southern Sydney Project Office is entrusted with road, light rail and active transport projects from Blacktown to Sutherland local government areas. The Sydways team is responsible for delivery of road and active transport projects which are largely in the brownfield environment.
We focus our expertise in delivery of projects from design to construction to operations safely, efficiently, sustainably and to high quality.
The opportunities
The role leads multidisciplinary Sydways project teams delivering a large infrastructure program of projects for interconnecting major roads and tunnels, predominantly Tier 2 - 4 projects ranging in size from $15m - $300m, with a total program value over $1bn.
The role will be responsible for and manage competing pressures between project scope, performance, cost, program, quality and risk, while meeting stakeholder expectations and longer-term community needs in an environment of intense public scrutiny. The role will also be responsible for overseeing all facets of the project including resolution of complex project issues and challenges, ensuring robust community and stakeholder engagement. The role will also oversee staff development, with smaller and larger projects, this role provides oversight of a graduate engineer through to emergent leaders in Project Management, providing a sustainable resourcing outcome for the program.

About you
You are a tertiary qualified in civil engineering, preferably with a project management qualification, seasoned major projects delivery professional looking for an opportunity to work on some of the most high profile projects within NSW.
- You will have demonstrated executive leadership experience building and leading diverse teams.

- You will have demonstrated technical ability in delivering a portfolio of projects.
- You will possess strong commercial acumen, delivering on time and to budget.
- You will understand how to manage very experienced project managers that bring very strong project experience and know-how.
- You will bring experience managing competing and complex demands to ensure timely delivery of projects considering quality, cost efficiencies and timeframes and assessing variations while resolving conflicts and priorities.
- You will understand the balance of addressing customer requirements whilst adhering to other regulatory, policy, government and operational conditions.
- You have the ability to articulate complex concepts and put forward compelling arguments and rationales to all levels and types of audiences.
- You bring experience identifying and overcoming barriers to collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- You bring strong experience creating a culture of achievement, fostering on-time and on-budget quality outcomes.
- You champion a customer-centric ethos.
