About the team

The Electrical & Signals portfolio has an annual value of $300m and sees the maintenance, renewal, refurbishment and construction of substations, overhead wiring, transmission lines, track circuits, signals, interlocking and turnout assets, among others.

The opportunity

The Project Engineer role offers long-term career development, including mentoring by senior team members that can lead to diverse future opportunities across the business, including management positions.

This position will report to the Systems and Electrical lead and be part of a diverse team of 50 Engineers. The role involves providing technical advice and the ability to share knowledge to build the technical capability of the Project Engineering & Support team. The Project Engineer will work closely with program managers and project managers, providing valuable experience and guidance to a broad group of project engineers.

The role also offers the opportunity to work on new and emerging technology that improves and enhances our network, such as automated train protection technology.

About you

The ideal candidate will be safety-minded and facilitate a supportive work environment, leading by example to deliver a high standard of work for our customers. The role will require making essential decisions in line with legislation and being a confident and clear communicator.

We are looking for Project Engineers with a minimum of twelve months experience in the construction industry, ideally within a rail signalling/electrical project delivery/planning space.

Additionally, candidates will have experience in the delivery of engineering works, including:

• A good understanding of engineering standards associated with delivering/planning a project
• The ability to review associated plans with rail signalling/electrical projects
• A range of project management skills to develop estimates, prepare schedules whilst managing budgets, and produce status reports

Salary and benefits

The salary for this position is RC Grade 5 A $106,653 – E $123,022 + superannuation, leave loading and shift allowances.
