Project Engineer - Eraring Battery Energy Storage System

This position is based at Australia's largest operational power station - Eraring Power Station in New South Wales. The role will be focussed on delivering one of Australia's largest Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects adjacent to the Eraring power station.

As part of the Eraring BESS Project team, the team aims to deliver a nationally significant capital project safely and within schedule and budget. The project also strives to minimise disturbance to the local community and to Eraring power station operations during project activities.

THE ROLE

The position will provide onsite engineering, project management and technical focus for the project - liaising with the wider project team and operational staff. The project engineer will be the technical interface with the project engineering teams, contractors, site operational staff to ensure the project is completed to a high standard and support the project director with project management activities.

The main responsibilities include:

• Actively support the HSE requirements and standards on site to ensure the works are delivered safely
• Provide engineering and technical coordination for the project
• Ensure that quality related processes and practices undertaken achieve a high outcome standard
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships
• Provide project management support

The position requires the incumbent to be motivated, self-sufficient and flexible to meet the challenges of the project scale and schedule

IS THIS YOU?

• Relevant tertiary qualification and/or engineering degree
• Engineering experience (5-8 years)
• Good level of power generation, renewables or heavy industry knowledge and experience
• Relevant Legislative and HSE knowledge
• A high level of Quality management and Continuous Improvement knowledge and experience
• Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to work within and provide leadership to cross functional/discipline teams
• Effective communication and negotiation skills skills (Verbal and written)
• Ability to travel
• Technical Operations knowledge

It would be advantageous if you had:

• Project Management Experience
• Experience working with large scale battery energy storage systems.
• Experience on Greenfield projects within close proximity to operational assets
• Experience with civil construction works
• Experience with installation of HV reticulation systems, switch room
• buildings and associated electrical equipment
• Experience working on projects $10M +
• Origin Energy Field Supervision Leadership Course or equivalent.
• Chartered Professional Engineer or ability to become Chartered.
