The UGL New Energy Team are working towards an creating an emissions free renewable energy sector. 2022 saw us deliver x2 Tesla Megapack installations (Battery Energy Storage Systems), and x2 Solar Farm projects in Adelaide and Queensland, both of which are in the commissioning phase. Exceeding our target revenue for the year we have positioned ourselves well for 2023, where our focus will be safe delivery of Solar Farms and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) Projects, nationally. About the role
The Project Engineer - Mechanical is responsible for responsible for providing conceptual and detailed mechanical engineering of HV substations, solar, battery, and mechanical BOP of the project. The primary challenge of this position is to ensure the project is completed in a timely and cost-effective manner to meet contractual arrangements made with the client.
You will
Planning and conducting professional engineering work without direct supervision
Consult, recommend, and advise on specialist engineering areas
Supervise and co-ordinate multi-disciplined design activities
Control and manage technical interfaces between disciplines, with equipment suppliers and subcontractors
Assist in the preparation of Forecast and constructability of projects
Supervise commissioning activities with the site commissioning teams
Develop ITP and work packs for installation work packages
Check mechanical works, Test Sheets, and signoff ITPs at completion of works
Assist the Project Manager with compliance to the documentation required under the UGL Management System
Review and plan the project with the Project Manager to ensure technical aspects of the job are clear and to become familiar with contractual arrangements made with the client
Liaise with Construction Manager to ensure the job is on schedule
Provide a focal point for all technical based queries for associated subcontractors / suppliers
Provide engineering advice for subcontractors / suppliers
Overviews the entire project (within disciplines) from and engineering viewpoint while maintaining an open approach to all problems
Liaise with design and detailing houses as required
Manage schedule, cost reporting, contract administration and effectively inform the Contract Manager and Project Manager of contract position and recommendations for recover and improvement. Also informing key business partners (Commercial and Finance) as directed by the Contract and Project Manager
Manage project scope and promptly detail any scope changes, schedule impacts and cost impacts that could affect the project, to ensure maximum return
Undertake all responsibilities in a safe manner
Ensure a safe working condition is present for all employees, contractors, and visitors
Participate in daily pre-start meetings
Essential
Tertiary Engineering Qualifications in an Mechanical discipline
Leadership ability
Substantial experience in mechanical systems
Experience with the supervision of technical staff
Experience in a “Design-for-Construction” environment and Project Management experience
AS9001 Quality Systems knowledge
Driver’s License
