Ventia are currently looking to engage an experienced Project Engineer to join Ventia’s Defence Telecommunication Team on a number of exciting projects in South Australia. This is a key role will see you providing support to ensure and confirm all relevant issues are identified and satisfactorily addressed before and during construction.
Reporting directly to the Project Manager, this role will assist the team in developing site operation methodologies, chasing subcontract and supplier prices, quantity takeoffs, writing draft management plans, calculating costing scenarios, developing technical drawings, and other general tasks associated with the handling of project delivery.
You will utilise your previous experience to perform the following:
- Management of pre contract agreements with subcontractors and suppliers, assist with preparation of construction/operational plans and procedures
- Enabling the effective flow and production of information in relation to engineering/construction/operational issues
- Delivering value by integration, planning, coordination, reduction of risk and innovation through collaborative and integrated working and value management processes
- Provide practical technical advice and assistance to the workforce (internal or external), within area of responsibility, in relation to sound engineering/construction practices.
- Prepare reports concerning construction issues, as required.
- Ability to manage consultants and subcontractors to complete tasks to agreed timelines.
- Ability to operate diplomatically and negotiate satisfactory outcomes for the project
- Ensure that risks are closed out in accordance with the hierarchy of controls for all activities
- Seek opportunity to reduce cost through collaboration and innovation
Skills and Experience
- Tertiary Qualifications in Engineering or similar (Civil engineer preferred)
- Australian government security clearance (NV1 preferred)
- Minimum 5 years project experience on telecommunication / civil works projects.
- Ability to interface with subcontractors and clients to ensure delivery compliance
- Demonstrated ability to engage with senior management and all levels of the project delivery team and belief that compliance with identified initiatives will deliver the required results.
- Experienced team leader able to convince personnel of the need for compliance and cooperation without mandate.
- High level of proficiency in the use of project specific computer software and Microsoft Office in conjunction with a deep understanding of cost control budgeting and management.
- The incumbent to this role must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance up to the level of Negative Vetting Level 1. As a result of this requirement the incumbent must be an Australian Citizen.
