About us
Transport for NSW keeps our State moving by providing safe, integrated and efficient transport systems. We put our customers at the centre of everything we do – and we do a lot. We connect people, communities and industry and manage how they use our road, rail and maritime networks and services, and even active modes like walking and cycling. The work we do connects the journeys you take every day.
We are a state government organisation made up of more than 28,000 people and we're in the middle of delivering the largest transport infrastructure program in Australia's history. We work across planning, policy and procurement, harnessing data and technology to develop smarter and more adaptive transport solutions.
That means job opportunities in metropolitan and regional areas across NSW – and you have the chance to be part of creating a lasting legacy that will benefit generations to come.

The Division
Transport’s Regional and Outer Metropolitan division’s purpose is to make regional and outer metropolitan NSW a better place to live, work and visit. Our division is made up of over 4,400 people in over 270 locations across NSW. We operate transport services and maintain our regional networks to help our regional communities and visitors stay safe and connected.
The Opportunity
We currently have a Temporary Full-Time opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join our ROM, Community and Place Branch.
As the Project Manager you will be joining a team supporting ARTC in delivering the Inland Rail project that will connect Melbourne and Brisbane, through regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. It is the missing link in our national freight network, providing a fast and reliable connection between our regional centres and capital cities.
This is a client-side role where you will have oversight and governance of grade separating road interface projects, whilst managing a large and varied range of stakeholders, overseeing and delivering outcomes, whilst managing the expectations of the community.
Some key responsibilities of the role include:
Support the development of nominated road and rail infrastructure programs and associated projects.
Building productive, collaborative and cooperative relationships with ARTC and other stakeholders and service providers to ensure best practice project management while delivering complex and challenging projects.
Facilitate development and approval of project-specific quality, safety and environmental requirements, ensure compliance with all relevant safety and quality standards, facilitate environmental planning/approval and manage the implementation to ensure adherence to conditions of approval
Determine project risks, develop a project risk management plan (RMP), facilitate the risk review process and manage, monitor and mitigate project risks through the RMP.
Manage timely and considered responses to customer issues, to ensure that the unit has a customer focus.
This is a Temporary Full-Time position until June 2025. Whilst it is preferred that this role is based in Wagga Wagga or Parkes, we would consider candidates from other regional locations throughout Southern NSW as we offer hybrid working options.
About You
The successful candidate will have previous experience as a client-side Project Manager, having gained this experience working on large, complex programs of work. Exposure to civil engineering and construction is also essential to success in this role.
Exceptional communication, stakeholder management and negotiation skills are a must, as you will be working with internal and external stakeholders at all levels and will act as the interface between Transport for NSW and ARTC.
The successful candidate will thrive in a pressurised environment, and display agility and adaptability in an ever-changing climate. As this team leads politically charged projects with strong social implications, the successful candidate must display a high degree of professionalism, maturity and integrity.
Along with the above, having an affinity to Regional NSW would also position you as a strong contender for the position.
