About the role
UGL Utilities team are currently looking for an experienced Project Manager for Hunter Power Project (HPP) with 10-15 years project management experience in the construction of Combined Cycle (CCPP), Gas, Steam, or Thermal Power Plants.
Located in the small suburb of Loxford in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, approximately three km north of the town of Kurri Kurri, approximately 35 km west of Newcastle and 125 km north of Sydney.
HPP is expected to have approximately 660 megawatts and will be generated via two heavy-duty open cycle gas turbines, and the turbines functionality will be incorporated into the facility.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Managing project teams to accurately and timely deliver projects according to schedule, budget and scope. The role will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.
- This position has a focus on acquiring resources and coordinating efforts of team members, ensuring that customer needs are delivered in a safe, timely and efficient manner whilst ensuring a safe and effective operation of the project through sound communication, promotion of Safety and Quality Assurance, technical assistance and sound business practices such as commercial, compliance, procurement, human resources and financials.
- The Project Manager will develop and maintain professional relationships with all Key Stakeholders throughout the UGL Business Units and with external providers. The role may be required from time to time to travel and work at locations outside their base.
This role will suit a Project Manager that has significant experience working on difficult projects with complex contractual arrangements.
Further skills, experience and qualifications that will see you succeed include:
- Significant experience in the construction of Combined Cycle (CCPP), Gas, Thermal or Steam Power Plants
- Ability to create and interpret budgets, financial statements and variance reports
- Ability to build a strong team and invest in their growth
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiating and diplomacy skills, and
- Highly effective written and oral communication skills
- Formal project management accreditation equivalent to the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM), PMBOK, PMP or equivalent
- Ability to provide a safe, supportive, and positive workplace
