The Museums and Collections Department aims to build a collaborative and flexible network around the University's cultural assets to enable students, staff members local and global communities to gain knowledge and understanding of contemporary and traditional cultures, scientific discovery and creative practice.

About the Role

The Project Manager, Collections will provide expert project management and support to manage and ensure on time and on budget delivery of an integrated program of strategic collection projects. The role develops and nurtures effective relationships with stakeholders, including senior leaders, to achieve objectives.

As a member of the Museums and Collections Department, the Project Manager, Collections works alongside colleagues to ensure an inclusive workplace that supports practices of decolonisation, and a genuine collaboration with Australia's First Peoples. The role involves extensive collaboration with and support for projects working with Indigenous people, including communities in remote areas.

Responsibilities include:
  • Manage planning, implementation and close activities on strategic projects and evaluate and report on their progress.
  • Prepare monthly budget reports and analysis, progress and financial updates for the Associate Director Collections and relevant members of the Museums and Collections Leadership Team.
  • Identify and document potential risks and issues associated with projects and develop risk mitigation strategies, improvements and change methodologies.
  • Lead process improvements for systems and procedures that support effective delivery of project and management of risks and other considerations.
About You

Your highly-developed interpersonal and communication skills enable you to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders and collaborators and an ability to convey concepts both verbally and in writing to a wide range of audiences. You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high-degree of organisation, able to resolve challenges in a timely manner and manage competing priorities and deadlines.

You will also have:
  • A relevant qualification; or an equivalent combination of experience in a similar role within a large scale, interdisciplinary environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage projects with a significant organisational impact.
  • Demonstration of contemporary project management approach that centres on collaboration and stakeholder engagement and communication.
Previous experience working on strategic projects in the Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums (GLAM) or tertiary education sector is highly desirable.
