This is a diverse role that will allow you to develop and grow your career in design management and project management of traditional projects and also work with our BMS team to manage our effort in reducing carbon in our design and advice as we work to halve the carbon in our design and advice by 2030.
By joining our experienced and innovative BMS team, you would be an instrumental team member and be part of the continued, successful delivery of projects within our range of diverse project portfolio within Victoria and beyond.
Initially, this entry level project management role will work within a well-structured project delivery system and be mentored by an experienced senior level project manager while being exposed to WSP’s internal PM training program and our PM Community of Practice. This role is strategically important to our future growth and impact, as we are looking to develop Design Managers and Project Managers to lead projects within the BMS team. We are after someone who is confident engaging with and eventually leading multi-disciplinary teams, to achieve successful outcomes on projects from small to large, and who can build relationships internally but also within the industry. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator with a positive, attitude, and be able to work with and influence a range of stakeholders and leaders both internally and externally.
Whilst Victorian projects are our focus, as we are a national business model, you will also have the opportunity to work on both local and interstate projects and for a broad range of government and private sector clients.
Transport & Infrastructure
Our Transport and Infrastructure team leverages the latest technology and a culture of innovation across the planning, design, and management disciplines to deliver connectivity, mobility, and resiliency to Australian communities.
Some of our recent projects include Melbourne Metro, Southern Programme Alliance and North East Link.
What you’ll do:
Assist senior project managers in the end-to-end delivery of transport infrastructure projects, from conception to handover.
Develop project plans, timelines and budgets under the guidance of senior project managers.
Monitor project progress and assist in managing risks and issues as they arise.
Support the management of project resources, including internal teams and external stakeholders.
Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date project documentation.
Provide regular project updates to senior management and clients under the guidance of senior project managers.
Support compliance with relevant health and safety, quality, and environmental regulations.
About you:
Have proven experience in the management of construction related projects on either delivery or client-side roles (or both).
Have good organizational skills
Have an engineering or science related background
Have a proven ability to develop and expand client networks, and engage and influence stakeholders
Hold good communication skills - both verbal and written including strong report writing skills
Excellent interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
Hold a sound understanding of commercial and generally project management principles
Familiarity with project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Experience with project management software, such as MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent, is a plus.
Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
