The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) is an independent statutory authority responsible for the curriculum, assessment, teacher accreditation and regulatory standards in NSW schools, and accreditation of early childhood educators. NESA is responsible for developing policies and initiatives for evaluating and improving quality teaching and student learning across all schools and school sectors. NESA was formally established on 1 January 2017, in response to the need to adopt a more strategic and outward-looking focus, greater clarity of regulatory roles and responsibilities, and streamlined processes and systems.
Primary purpose of the role
We are looking for a Project Officer to perform project management and support activities to contribute to the development and delivery of a range of projects in line with established objectives and governance frameworks, specifically in support of the NSW Curriculum Reform Program Management Office (PMO).
Key accountabilities
In this interesting and challenging stakeholder focused role you will:
- Provide a range of project management and support services, including preparation of reports and briefs, coordinating resources, maintaining project documentation and implementing and monitoring project plans, to ensure project outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards and within agreed scope, in line with established agency project management methodology
- Prepare and maintain project documentation for reporting, monitoring and evaluation purposes to ensure accessibility of quality information and contribute to the achievement of project outcomes
- Communicate with key stakeholders and coordinate working groups, committees and consultations to facilitate exchange of information and support project completion in line with project plans
- Source, collate and compile data and information to identify emerging issues and track and report on project progress against established milestones and deliverables
- Undertake research and analysis, identifying trends and preparing project briefs, to support informed decision-making and planning
Essential requirements:
- Qualification in project management or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
We are seeking someone who can demonstrate their proficiency in the focus capabilities (as highlighted in the role description) from their commencement in the role. Answer with concrete examples and in no more than 400 words per question. Briefly describe the context of the situation(s), the actions that you took, the outcome of your efforts and what you learned from the experience.
- Outline a recent project that you have managed in your workplace, describe the project management processes, methods and/or techniques you used to work with stakeholders and deliver intended outcomes. How did you work with stakeholders to identify and remediate any risks or dependencies to ensure the project was delivered on time and/or on budget and achieved project objectives?
- Provide an example of where you have led or contributed to developing advice on system or process change. Explain how you worked through the issue and weighed up alternatives to identify the most effective solutions?

Total Remuneration:
Clerk Grade 7/8, Salary of $101,917 to $112,816 p.a, plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading
