Opportunity to join the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre to undertake health technology assessments

Base Salary $100,032 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre are looking for a Project Officer, Health Technology Assessment to join their health technology assessment (HTA) team. This role will be responsible for evaluating and critiquing health care technology submission for the Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC). The Project officer will also be required to provide detailed clinical evaluation reports as part of a HTA evaluation to the Committee to assist them in making a decision on recommending a service to be listed on the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS).

Your key responsibilities will be to:

undertake clinical evaluations of new technologies such as systematically identifying relevant clinical trial data, assessing studies for risks of bias, and combining identified and relevant clinical trial data through appropriate statistical techniques

assist health economists in identifying clinical parameters required for cost-utility, cost-effectiveness and cost-minimisation models

analyse and critique reports submitted to MSAC, including both therapeutic and methodological issues, to provide advise to the committee

develop protocols for HTA submissions

participate in conferences/teleconferences and other meetings

undertake systematic reviews including identifying relevant literature and report writing.

About you

has tertiary education in a relevant field or similar work experience

has understanding of the workings of MSAC and Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS)

has experience with systematic reviews/processes

has an understanding of the methodological techniques for identifying risk of bias

has an understanding of health economics particularly related to health technology assessments

has great verbal and written communication skills.
