If so, the NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) ‘Stepping Into’ Internship Program can help you to gain paid, practical work experience relating to various degrees and related disciplines.
DCJ works with the Australian Network on Disability (AND) to offer paid internship opportunities for university students with disability.
We are currently looking for interns for the Winter 2023 intake. The internship will take place between June-August 2023.
The opportunity
Are you looking for an internship opportunity that allows you to apply your passion for social work and supporting Aboriginal communities?
The Information Exchange team are looking for an intern who brings enthusiasm and drive to the role of Project Support Officer.
What you’ll do
If you are interested in pursuing project work with a focus on helping communities this may be the opportunity for you!
As part of this internship opportunity, you may be tasked with:
Assisting in the development of an Aboriginal Impact Statement (AIS). This would include developing a project plan, liaising with stakeholders, conducting research and reviewing relevant resources.
Working closely with a project officer to develop and implement a plan for the creation and approval of an AIS.
Participating in monthly meetings, supervision and general administrative work that all team members share.
Previous exposure to and/or awareness of the child protection and out-of-home-care sector would be helpful for this placement.
The team
The Information Exchange team is part of Information Access and Exchange, Community Services State-wide Services. The Information Exchange team is responsible for specific information sharing agreements between Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) and other government and non-government partners, within and outside NSW.
Although we support others to provide service to clients, we don’t provide direct service to clients or the general public. The information we provide supports others to make decisions, assess, plan, investigate, or provide a service to children, young people and their families.
If you are passionate about Aboriginal inclusion and diversity, we encourage you to apply for the role of Project Support Officer!
