About the Role
The Senior Traffic and Transport Engineer will work with the community in delivering integrated transport solutions, improving road safety, undertake specialist investigations, and strategically plan transport improvements for the Shire. The position will contribute to the development, review and implementation of key transport strategies, and provide strategic transport planning advice on network developments.
Reporting to the Transport Strategy Coordinator, the core responsibilities include:
Ensure appropriate forward planning is undertaken for transport related programs and projects (including Roads to Recovery, Blackspot, footpath program).
Develop and manage projects in the Council’s Capital Works Program for traffic engineering and road safety related infrastructure proposals, including local area traffic management treatments.
Develop, review and implement key transport strategies and policies (including Toward Zero Road Safety Strategy, Integrated Transport Strategy, Road Improvement Strategy, Ridesafe Strategy, and Pedestrian Access Strategy).
Assess, review, and prioritise potential speed limit changes.

About You
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent
Previous Local/State Government experience highly desirable
Ability to source, select and prioritise strategic roads improvement opportunities for bids in the Capital Works program
Demonstrated ability to work through issues with the community and internal stakeholders to build understanding and support for programs and strategies
