About the Opportunity
We are looking for a Platform System Training Equipment (PSTE) Electrical Supervisor who will safely, effectively and efficiently plan, schedule, record, maintain and supervise corrective and preventative maintenance on PSTE in accordance with ASC and TA-SM policies and procedures. The aim is to maximise availability and reliability of the PSTE simulators and training equipment at the Submarine Training Centre on Garden Island, WA.
The PSTE Electrical Supervisor is responsible for 5 major work components:
1. To Supervise ASC Maintenance Personnel, Contractors and Apprentices in a Safe Working Environment.
2. The Supervision of maintenance of submarine equipment to standards specified in Defence Sea Worthiness and commercial off the shelf (COTS) equipment to the best practice standards.
3. Responsible for daily, weekly, monthly routine/maintenance task activities of submarine equipment and commercial off the shelf (COTS) equipment.
4. PSTE maintenance reporting for planned maintenance and corrective maintenance captured in the PSTE Maintenance Database.
5. Conduct operations of the Platform Systems Training Equipment for trials and in support of training.
About you
Highly autonomous and self-motivated, demonstrating sound judgement, initiative, and an ability to manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency.
Ability to lead and mentor individuals and teams in improvement initiatives.
Direct experience working within ASC value stream groups with strong interface to Maintenance - these typically involve Engineering, Maintenance, Planning, Projects and Supply Chain.
Essential Qualifications and Licences
Relevant Trade Qualification or Engineering Diploma
High Risk License – Forklift
A Class Electrical License
Essential Skills and Experience
The PSTE Electrical Supervisor will be required to hold competencies in the Collins Submarines Platform Systems Operations and Maintenance in accordance with the authorities’ matrix.
Relevant experience and knowledge in the maintenance of the Collins Class Submarine Platform Systems.
Competence in navigating and interpreting technical documentation.
Ability to trace and interpret schematic diagrams and tables in the technical documentation.
Ability to conduct fault diagnostics in accordance with the approved technical documentation.
Competence in fault diagnostics in commercial equipment.
Experience in reviewing Ships Information Management Systems (SIMS) for Organisational and Depot Level Planned Maintenance, Defective Maintenance and Emergent Work including Mechanical and Electrical Drawings for diagnosing faults.
Intermediate computing skills (working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite).
Understanding and ability to navigate competently relevant ASC corporate systems.
Front Line Technical Delegation as required by CASG.
The PSTE team are located in the Submarine Training and Systems Centre (STSC), a Commonwealth owned Defence asset, managed by the Director Training Authority – Submarine (DTA-SM). As such, this facility expects all staff, trainees, visitors and contractors to conform to a minimum standard of behaviour, dress and respect endorsed in Defence Values and Next Generation Navy guidelines including those as an ASC employee.
Eligibility and Requirements
This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals. Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
