POSITION OVERVIEW

Mental Health, Justice Health and Alcohol & Drug Services provide health services directly and through partnerships with community organisations. The services provided range from prevention and treatment to recovery and maintenance and harm minimisation. Consumer and carer participation is encouraged in all aspects of service planning and delivery. The Division works in partnership with consumers, carers and a range of government and non-government service providers to ensure the best possible outcomes for clients.
The Division delivers services at a number of locations, including hospital inpatient and outpatient settings, community health centres, detention centres, other community settings including people’s homes.
DUTIES
Provide competent and efficient clinical management of clients of MHJHADS. This includes assessment and management of people presenting to the emergency department, acute admissions, in-patient care including working in the multidisciplinary team, managing medication and other therapy, outpatient clinics, interdisciplinary consults to the general hospital, working with clients and their families, therapy where appropriate and clinical handover including clinical documentation and discharge letters
Work within and support the multidisciplinary clinical team and work collaboratively with other areas within the service including ED and hospital wards and other agencies
Participate in the supervision, training, and professional development of junior medical staff and medical students including teaching duties as required
Maintain currency in all essential training including currency in Basic Life Support
Participate in the after-hours, ECT, and on-call rosters
Comply with the policies and requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and policies of the ACT Health Directorate. This includes the promotion and application of workplace relations, workplace equity and diversity and workplace safety; and
Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

Position Requirements/Qualifications:
Be registered or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA); and
Proficient computer literacy skills, as you will be responsible for completing clinical documentation in the DHR and using other CHS IT systems.
You will need to understand how the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.
You will need to fulfil the responsibilities of this role as detailed in the CHS Exceptional Care Framework, Clinical Governance Framework, Partnering With Consumers Framework and other related frameworks.
Please note prior to commencement successful candidates will be required to:
Complete the ACT Health mandatory screening for employees requiring ‘category A’ screening with Exposure Prone Procedures.
Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
