A leading food charity requires a sourcing professional to oversee food product purchasing activities.

Your new company

One of Australia's leading food charities is looking for an established procurement and/or purchasing professional to aid in the companies' goal in fighting hunger by sourcing and distributing food for people in need. Be part of an organisation that provides essential food and grocery relief to more than one million Australians experiencing food insecurity every month.

Location: Western Sydney

Hours: 60 Hour Fortnight – Very suitable for School hours – 4 days per week.

WFH/Hybrid available

Salary: $70 – 80k + super


Your new role

In this unique role which blends, purchasing, donation management, sourcing and funded purchases, you will be reporting to the Supply Chain Manager. As the Purchasing/Sourcing manager, you will play a key role in achieving the business’ goal of increasing the quantity, variety and quality of food distributed to people in need.

Responsibilities:

  • Control and Manage sourcing activities and the Purchasing Programs for all PAID product – including multiple food funded purchases (APP, MPP, Collab Supply, National Offers and Direct supply).
  • Manage forward planning and ensure ERP system is up-to-date with forecast.
  • Manage e2e supply chain costing for purchased items as well as tender process for new supply.
  • Control and manage monthly spend to budget and analyse costs to decrease expenditure.
  • Develop and leverage strong supplier relationships with both internal and external suppliers and stakeholders, related to purchasing programs within the business including supplier delivery performance, quality and cost control, through reporting tools and routine meetings with suppliers.
  • Visit Manufacturers and Major Donor partners to cement the ongoing relationship and proactively address any service level issues.
  • Work with Warehouse Manager and Supply Chain Manager to ensure capacity of site is managed with inwards goods. Manage these promote Just In Time stock movements and operate within site capacity constraints.
  • Utilise your analytical mindset reviewing sales history/stock movements working with Food Programs Manager and the Supply Chain Manager to identify trends, hamper requirements and gaps in the core range.
  • Develop sourcing strategies for alternate supply or new range items required by FBNA, ensuring current business Procurement policies and procedures are followed at all times.
  • Grow the brand of the business within multiple food supply and retail industries, networking with industry-based orgs.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience in a Sourcing role and/or Purchasing Manager position.
  • Food manufacturing or retail environment experience very beneficial.
  • Previous planning experience (MRP, CRP, Advanced Forecasting).
  • Strong knowledge of sourcing and buying, funding management techniques and best practices for the food industry.
  • Ability to build/maintain strong relationships.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, report running and writing ability.
  • Capability to develop projections and forecast peaks and troughs.
  • MS Office Suite, Excel spreadsheet experience.
  • Leadership and team management skills
  • Current drivers’ licence


What you'll get in return

This role is a part-time (4 days per week) permanent role, paying upto $70 - $80k + super.
